Whattup Flip City Residents! As we begin the second round of beta testing, I wanted to drop this quick article highlighting some of the insights from the first round, as well as some changes we’ve made for this month.

First and foremost, thanks to all of the beta testers for their awesome engagement, patience with bugs, and dilligent reporting. The feedback was extremely helpful and it was great to see the community come together and enjoy what we’ve been working so hard to build.

As far as insights, a couple of things we noticed were that while the game was relatively straight-forward to play, the limited scope of resources in beta made certain play-styles obviously favorable over others. Those who bought a lot of guns had huge stores of value regardless of what happened to their crew, gun weighting/damage was disproportionately balanced, and overall players were rewarded from avoiding conflict. For this month’s round, we have restructured net worth calculations, redistributed gun weighting, and made some adjustments to happiness scales. There are still a lot of bugs that we’re working on fixing, but we’ll continue to monitor feedback and make adjustments on the fly.

And without further ado, let’s welcome the Chefs!

Chefs play an important role within your crew. Whereas previously soldiers were doing all of the work, chefs are now a key element to growing your empire. They are the backbone of your family, responsible for cooking fish for your soldiers to sell and single-handedly allowing your business to produce cashflow. Soldiers are still important in that they defend your home front from would-be gangsters, as well as attack on your behalf if you have scores to settle. Chefs and soldiers work harmoniously to give you the tools needed to build your business — so make sure you’re a good Boss and take care of your crew!

From a technical perspective, chefs are independent to soldiers in that they have their own unique formulas for keeping them happy, as well as their impact on other gaming actions. It’ll be up to you to figure out how each impacts the other, and how to go about keeping your family happy and sharp.

And on that note, Round 2 of beta testing has already begun so happy hunting and looking forward to catching you on the streets!
